College Athletics: A day after its first-ever national title, Coastal Carolina officially joins Sun Belt

Coastal Carolina’s final day in the Big South was at very least memorable. 
The Chanticleers, members of said conference for the past 34 years, turned the college baseball world on its head by winning the College World Series over established program Arizona by a score of 4-3 on Thursday afternoon in Omaha, Nebraska. It was the school’s first-ever national championship.

Players from Coastal Carolina and Arizona weren’t the only ones on the diamond this week.
Sure, the two College World Series participants, which slugged it out for the national championship, were chasing the summer’s biggest prize (the Chanticleers won a decisive game three on Thursday afternoon to take home their first-ever title).

College Football: Texas State solidifies early lead in Sun Belt recruiting by landing another commit

Texas State had already distanced itself from the Sun Belt pack when it comes to recruiting.
The Bobcats added on to that lead on Sunday afternoon when South Grand Prairie defensive end Jakharious Smith verbally committed to the program, giving them 17 such pledges for the 2017 class. 
Smith, who was clocked at 4.5 and 4.59 in the 40-yard dash during Texas State’s Dallas satellite camp on June 20, will likely be used as an outside linebacker at the collegiate level.

More appropriately, the largest Catholic school in Texas took a leap of faith. 
Despite very little success to speak of on the football field (10-21 across the previous three season), university officials announced in August 2012 that the Cardinals would jump from Division II to Division I.
