Hays County Jail is full and has been outsourcing inmates to other jails for years. Due to the high population of incarcerated people, Hays County has been implementing various programs to attempt to divert people from the jail, such as the mental health court that was recently established and the pretrial services department. Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra has a standing agenda item during each commissioner court meeting in which he reads the current jail population, the amount of inmates outsourced and the cost.

Funds stem from American Rescue Plan
Will Conley
Wimberley Independent School District Board of Trustee and former Hays County Commissioner Will Conley was arrested for driving while intoxicated on April 23. In addition to the DWI charge, he was also charged with unlawfully carrying a weapon, which stemmed from him having a gun in the vehicle while allegedly driving while intoxicated. Conley denies being intoxicated.

Cottage Kitchen is back in business! After a highly-attended Grand Opening this month hosted by the Heritage Association, the first sponsored luncheon will be hosted by the Damron Group Realtors on Wednesday, May 1.
The Victorian Texas/Craftsman-style bungalow located on Viola Street has seen over 120 years of San Marcos history. Present owners Tony and Kerry Rash have endeavored to preserve the home’s unique character.
