Vintage tractor club meeting tomorrow

Frank Hemphill, president of the relatively recently formed and growing Vintage Tractor and Engine Club of Creedmoor, stands by a newly acquired sign for their club grounds. Membership is open to anyone having or interested in Vintage farm tractors/equipment and Hit-and-Miss engines or anyone interested in such items. Meetings are at 7 p.m. in the Creedmoor community center on the third Wednesday of each month, the next meeting will be tomorrow. One of the topics will be the club’s involvement in the parade and static display for the Creedmoor Mayfest.

San Marcos High School, Miller Middle School Color Guards finish award winning season

The San Marcos High School Rattler Guard finished the season 18th out of 44 groups in the state. The Miller Middle School Color Guard finished 8th out of 9 groups in the state. This was Miller’s first season of competition. Throughout the season, the Miller corps won one first place trophy and three third place trophies. Creation HealthCheck health screening

Despite the gloomy weather outside, CTMC’s Creation HealthCheck drew large crowds throughout the day Monday at Embassy Suites.
This was the 28th annual HealthCheck, the oldest and largest health screening fair in Hays County.
And this year more than 60 exhibitors lined the conference room to educate the public about a variety of health and fitness issues.
In addition, there were more than 30 free screenings and assessments available to those who wanted to participate as well as several additional low cost screenings.

Fire destroys apartment laundry

San Marcos firefighters stopped a blaze Friday at a laundry room at Townwood Apartments, 520 Linda Drive, before it could damage adjacent dwellings. The call came in at at 11:54 a.m. and firefighters had the fire extinguished by 12:15 p.m. The fire caused no injuries, but a nearby car was damaged. The cause is still under investigation.
