It is Super Bowl Sunday and while it is not officially a national holiday a large majority of people celebrate it as if it was.  

Bars have big screens, clubs have parties, friends have pot luck gatherings and runners get their miles in early in the morning. While football is not the sport for runners like some they host some of the best pot luck parties around.

High School Girls Basketball: Saenz helped mentor young Lady Rattler roster

There came a point during the season when Mackenzie Saenz knew that her senior year would likely be the first time she missed the playoffs in high school.

San Marcos’ only senior had experienced the Lady Rattlers’ 30-win season her sophomore year and last year, she helped earn their second consecutive playoff appearance as one of the leading scorers. This year was a different story, however being apart of a unit with multiple first-year varsity players including seven freshmen and sophomores.

High School Boys Basketball: Anderson holds home court against Rattlers

AUSTIN — San Marcos began Friday’s matchup against Austin Anderson on a furious 18-2 run. 

Then the Rattlers received foul upon foul, the game slowed down and the Trojans outscored San Marcos, 63-38, in the next three quarter to win the game, 65-56.
