In late September, there is a chance that the following scenario could come to fruition. 

As Paul Goldschmidt digs into the batter’s box in the eighth inning of a close game, he may have Donnie Hart staring back at him from the pitcher’s mound.

Goldschmidt and Hart, both former Bobcats, never actually played on the same Texas State baseball team; the latter was chosen in the 2009 amateur draft and Hart didn’t arrive in San Marcos until a few months later.

Felix Romero has been busy this offseason rehabbing a torn ACL.

But that hasn’t stopped the rising senior from being active in the community. Romero has been heavily involved in the football team’s volunteer projects. 

His efforts haven’t gone unnoticed, either. 

On Wednesday, the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) announced that the Bobcats’ senior offensive lineman is a nominee for the 2016 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, one of the more coveted off-the-field honors in college football.

Texas State associate head coach John Wiley has resigned from his post effective immediately, the team announced on Wednesday afternoon.

“John is resigning for personal/ family reasons and we will respect and support his decision,” head coach Everett Withers said in a statement. “We are in the process of interviewing and completing the search to replace him and expect to have a coach in place in the very near future. No future comments will be made on the resignation of Coach Wiley.”

International Volleyball: Team USA, Texas State junior Jordan Kohl advance to quarterfinals of World Deaf Volleyball Championships

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Team USA continues to fare well on the world stage.

And Jordan Kohl has been front and center in that effort.

The Red, White and Blue is undefeated at the World Deaf Volleyball Championships in Washington, D.C. Team USA swept six of its seven opponents (Brazil, Canada, Russia, Poland, Turkey and Ukraine). Kohl and company secured a 3-1 victory over Japan.

Team USA advanced to today’s quarterfinals as the No. 1 seed where it will face No. 8 seed Turkey. For updates from the tournament, go to 2016volleyball.org/wc/. 

Texas State Notebook: Anicka Newell qualifies for Summer Olympics, longtime assistant returns to Bobcats

And then there were two.

Less than a week after former Bobcat pole vaulter Logan Cunningham punched his ticket to the Summer Olympics, Anicka Newell did the same.

Newell, who will represent Team Canada during next month’s Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, qualified at Sunday’s Canadian Track and Field Championships.
