Texas State senior pitcher Randi Rupp was named a third team All-American by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA), the association announced Wednesday.

This is the second time Rupp has received a NFCA All-American honor. The Mont Belvieu native was named a second team All-American after her junior season in 2017. She’s a four-time NFCA All-Central Region honoree. She’s earned first team accolades during her senior and junior seasons. She was named to the all-central region second team after her sophomore and freshman seasons.

"I am honored to receive this award," Rupp said in a statement. "I could not have done it without my teammates and coaches pushing and encouraging me along the way. I am thankful for all the support from my family and Texas State during my career.”

This is the fifth All-American honor earned by a Bobcat in program history. All five have come under head coach Ricci Woodard. Rupp becomes the second Bobcat to receive back-to-back NFCA All-American recognition alongside Kristen Zaleski (second team, 2003 and 2004). Jessica Chase received all-american recognition as a third team honoree in 2001.

“This is an amazing feat to culminate a tremendous career for Randi,” Woodard said. “To post back-to-back All-American seasons is not easy, but anyone that has followed the last four years has seen the growth of Randi Rupp into one of the nation’s top pitchers. She dedicated herself to excellence and this is a direct result of that mindset. We are extremely proud of what Randi has accomplished and done for Texas State Softball.”

Rupp finishes her career as a two-time Sun Belt Pitcher of the Year and a four-time All-Sun Belt selection. Rupp finished the 2018 season with a 1.26 ERA, which is the second-lowest of her career. Rupp recorded a 0.55 ERA in Sun Belt play and only allowed nine earned runs in 115 innings pitched. She threw 317 strikeouts in 2018 in 278.1 innings of work. Her strikeout total is ranked No. 2 in the NCAA.

Rupp is the Bobcat record holder in career strikeouts at 1,270, career victories with 110, career innings pitched at 1057.1 and career appearances with 187.
