Decoud, Hardy finish outdoor season at USATF meet

Texas State Track & Field

Texas State high jumper Chelsie Decoud and sprinter Tramesha Hardy competed in their final event of the season at the USATF Outdoor Championships at Sacramento State’s Hornet Stadium.

Decoud, the No. 18 seed, finished 13th in the women’s high jump. She outperformed five collegiate jumpers, including Georgia’s Madeline Fagan, this season’s NCAA Outdoor Champion. Decoud cleared the starting height of 1.80 m (5-10.75) during her second try. She, however, couldn’t clear the bar at 1.85m (6-0.75), which would have tied her personal best.

Hardy entered the weekend’s 200-meter dash as the No. 28 seed. She finished the race in 22nd with a time of 23.47. The Houston native completed the race ahead of four collegiate runners, including three that competed in the NCAA Outdoor Championships. The redshirt sophomore also finished ahead of two professionals. Hardy’s time was her quickest non-wind aided mark this year.

“It was a good experience for both Chelsie and Tramesha as this was their first USA National Championships,” said Jody Steward, Texas State Director of Track & Field/Cross Country. “It was also great to watch our two student-athletes compete at the USA National Championships wearing a Texas State uniform. They both return and will be even better from this experience for future championships.”
