Dick Burdick: The man behind the classic cars

This interview began as all my interviews do, with the request to the interviewee to “tell me about yourself.” Dick Burdick responded, “Well, I guess I will begin at the beginning. I was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming in 1929. My parents came to Wyoming from Pennsylvania where my dad worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad.” He interrupted his personal chronology with a slight diversion about his father. “In his younger days my dad was a lumberjack.  In those days, they floated the logs down the river to the sawmill. He was working a logjam when he fell off a log and broke both arms and both legs. He spent several months in an Erie, Pa. hospital. His roommate was a telegrapher and he taught my dad telegraphy.” With that skill, Dick’s dad got a job with the Pennsylvania Railroad.
