LWV beer and wine event tonight

Those that enjoy sampling a selection of quality Texas wines and some soon-to- be local beers have an opportunity to join friends and community members at the 29th Annual League of Women Voters of Hays County Texas Wine and Beer Tasting tonight at the Quail Creek Country Club from 6 to 8 p.m.

Women's Council of CTMC to host Cottage Kitchen Luncheon

The Women's Council of Central Texas Medical Center Foundation will be hosting the Cottage Kitchen on Friday, Jan. 27, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Charles S. Cock House Museum. 

Their menu will consist of delicious lasagna, garlic bread, Caesar salad and an assortment of incredible desserts. The Cottage Kitchen is open to the public and takes place almost every Friday with a constantly changing menu. The price is $8 which includes the plate, a beverage and dessert.

TXST 40th anniversary trumpet recital

The Texas State University School of Music is featuring Jack Laumer and Robert Cannon in a trumpet and brass recital on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 8 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center Recital Hall.

Professor of Trumpet at Texas State, Laumer was Associate Principal trumpet with the Austin Symphony for 37 years. The evening will celebrate Laumer’s career spanning 40 years of concerts at Texas State.

Bowie dedicates Little Free Library Box

On Friday afternoon, Jan. 20, Bowie Elementary School celebrated the ribbon cutting of their new Little Free Library (LFL) box located on their grounds near the Monterrey Oak roadway. According to Information Literacy Specialist Priscilla Delgado, the Little Free Library movement started in 2009 and rapidly grew to over 50,000 Little Free Libraries worldwide as of November of last year.
