At any given moment, senior guard Ojai Black is likely on his phone.

During an interview inside the conference room of Texas State’s athletics office, the senior guard is itching to look at his phone, but resists.

“Honestly right now, it’s killing me not to check my phone,” Black laughs. “I don’t know why I can’t put it down. I love to just find and figure out new things, discover new things. I love to just know what’s going on in the world at the time.”

Texas State sophomore guard Toshua Leavitt won’t take full credit for her performance during the Bobcats’ 63-50 win over UL Monroe on Thursday.

Time for Texas State (9-6, 2-1 in the Sun Belt) to show Saturday wasn’t a fluke.

After his team’s upset over UT Arlington, senior guard Bobby Conley said he didn’t want the victory to be the highlight of their season. It was a win worth celebrating, but only in terms of what it could set up down the road. The Bobcats hope to view it as a means to an end.
