City council begins budget work

The San Marcos City Council took another in a series of steps towards preparation of the 2014-2015 fiscal year budget last night by approving a Budget Policy Statement in the form of Resolution 2014-57R.
“There are still plenty of opportunities to make adjustments,” Mayor Daniel Guerrero said just before the unanimous vote.

Vintage tractor club meeting tomorrow

Frank Hemphill, president of the relatively recently formed and growing Vintage Tractor and Engine Club of Creedmoor, stands by a newly acquired sign for their club grounds. Membership is open to anyone having or interested in Vintage farm tractors/equipment and Hit-and-Miss engines or anyone interested in such items. Meetings are at 7 p.m. in the Creedmoor community center on the third Wednesday of each month, the next meeting will be tomorrow. One of the topics will be the club’s involvement in the parade and static display for the Creedmoor Mayfest.

San Marcos High School, Miller Middle School Color Guards finish award winning season

The San Marcos High School Rattler Guard finished the season 18th out of 44 groups in the state. The Miller Middle School Color Guard finished 8th out of 9 groups in the state. This was Miller’s first season of competition. Throughout the season, the Miller corps won one first place trophy and three third place trophies.
